Happy birthday me! I will celebrate with cake and cider later this morning. Presents? The Bauhaus 1979–1983 and Soul Sok Sega CDs.
Earlier today I finally published my three-hundred-and-sixty-seven page adventure thriller The Horus Box via Kindle Direct Publishing.
Here's the blurb:
What's an adrenaline junkie bike courier to do after a near fatal wipe out? How about inheriting a weird box, partnering up with a lethal and sexy reporter, and going on the adventure of lifetime?
Join geeky ex-rocker Horis and beautiful, enigmatic Silv as they are drawn into the mystery of the century, deep in the dark heart of London. It is a secret that will change their lives forever... if it doesn't kill them first.
If you liked Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Goonies, National Treasure, or Preston and Child's Agent Pendergast novels, but with a British flavour, you should enjoy this book.
How long? About seven years! About the same time as I've been podcasting.
It was my first novel (being a reader is absolutely not the same as being a writer). So many things, like book matter (parts of a book) and their order, non-indented first paragraphs; things I should have noticed over a lifetime of reading, I was completely oblivious to as an author... and that ate too much time to correct.
Beginner author plotitis (too much plot).
I didn't proofread carefully and had to re-read several times.
Submissions took far too long, two years too long! I was hoping to get an agent, but none were interested... so Kindle.
Hopefully you read it! It's being reviewed by Amazon, but should be available soon. When it is, expect me to make a fuss about it on the podcast, on social media, and in person. I'll also be sending out some press packs.
